City u18s made it six points out of six with a dominant 2-0 victory over Sunderland in the Platt Lane sunshine.

A brace and Man of the Match display from Denzeil Boadu, to add to his opening day strike against Blackburn Rovers last weekend ensured the boys in blue took home maximum points from their second league game of the campaign as they seek to defend the North Division title.

If anyone had cared to make a prediction before kick off, 2-0 might have been a logical choice – this latest encounter was the third game in a row that Jason Wilcox’s young side had triumphed by the same scoreline over the Black Cats.

Last time out, the u18s kicked off the new campaign in the same way as they ended last term’s regular season fixtures – with a comfortable 4-1 triumph, although against Blackburn rather than Newcastle this time.
