City shortlisted for five awards

Manchester City have been nominated for an impressive five accolades at the forthcoming Northwest Football Awards 2012.
The Blues have been shortlisted for the Community Initiative of the Year, Community Club of the Year, CSR Campaign of the Year and Best Club Marketing Campaign at this year’s ceremony; whilst the club’s partnership with EA Sports has been nominated for the Best Club Sponsorship Engagement/Partnership Award.
The awards ceremony will take place on Monday 12 November at Lancashire County Cricket Club’s ‘The Point’ and will be presented by BBC Sport’s Dan Walker.
Whilst those players and managers that have enjoyed successful seasons are honoured, the awards also celebrate achievements across all areas of professional clubs – including the best community initiatives, marketing campaigns and sponsorship engagement.
Special categories on the night will also recognise the Northwest Football Journalist of the Year, Manager of the Year, Goal of the Year, as well as a Lifetime Contribution to Northwest Football and an Unsung Hero Award.

“Manchester has been the home of the PFA since 1907 and we consider ourselves very fortunate to be located in such a football city and in a region that is blessed with football clubs who have made such an impact on our game.
"We feel the North West should be proud to illuminate these clubs and the work they do both in football and in their corporate social responsibility programmes for their communities.”
