Scott Sinclair's first goal in a City shirt 10 minutes from time cancels out Ronald Zubar header.

City EDS were chasing their first win for nearly a month and a late rally was almost enough to get it in a game which took a while to come to the boil.

Alex Nimley held on to his place after looking bright on his return from injury and was joined in the XI by Scott Sinclair who took his place in Attilio Lombardo’s team for the second time after appearing in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool in September.

Wales under-21 midfielder Emyr Huws wore the armband as Lombardo continued to rotate the captaincy and the Huws/George Evans midfield axis was up against an experienced Wolves side sprinkled with players possessing first-team experience.

In truth, it was an opening quarter of an hour that provided little entertainment for the spectators that took advantage of free entry for the match but Jeremy Helan’s work on the left flank almost gave the game its first goal after 20 minutes.

The Frenchman’s inviting cross was met by Nimley but his diving header shot just a yard the wrong side of the post.

Another moment of real quality threatened to spring the Wolves defensive shackles in the 40^th minute as Suarez launched a glorious, raking pass for Scapuzzi who controlled well before he exchanged passes with Nimley and forced De Vries into a great save with a sidefooted effort.

Perhaps it was Wolves who should have gone in at the break ahead though, as Jack Price was played through by Michael Ihiekwe in the final moments of the half but the midfielder could only fire into the side netting as the ample frame of Eirik Johansen came steaming out of the City goal.

City EDS have been struggling for goals of late, with only two in their last three games but after the break it was more a case of good Wolves defending than poor finishing or lack of chances.

It was turning into the kind of attritional deadlock that was only going to broken by a moment of brilliance or a set piece and it turned it out to be the latter for the visitors, with Ronald Zubar rising to head in a corner from Ismail after 72 minutes.

Lombardo immediately reacted and sent on new signing Jules Ntcham and top-scorer Jordy Hiwula to rescue the match and the new attacking impetus seemed to have immediate impact when Suarez won a penalty in the 80th minute which Sinclair stepped forward to cooly dispatch.

That was Suarez's last involvement as he received an injury and he was replaced by his compatriot Jose Angel Pozo who nearly won the match in the 87th minute when he turned his marker and fired into the side netting with an explosive strike.

Despite the late charge it wasn't quite enough to claim the three points and the team will now enjoy a 10 day break before returning to action at home to Liverpool on 19 October.
