City may have collected their first three points of the season with a narrow win over Southampton, but all focus this morning is on Sergio Aguero’s unfortunate injury and what it will mean for Roberto Mancini’s side.

Aguero, the Blues top goal scorer last season, was taken to hospital for a scan on his right knee after he went to ground following a challenge by Saints defender Nathaniel Clyne.

“Mancini conceded that if the worst is confirmed later this week and Aguero is ruled out for an extended period, he may have to change his squad building plans,” the Press Assocition reports.

“He is still hoping to bring in a new face, with strong rumours linking him with Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi.”

Although Mancini has admitted the injury does worry him, Aguero went some way to allaying those fears last night.

“The studies I had done revealed there's no significant injury but it was a very tough hit to my knee,” the Argentine revealed via his Twitter account.

“I can't muster words to thank for your concern and with this much support, I'll probably get back up on my feet soon,” he reassured fans.

Elsewhere, the Adam Johnson transfer rumours rumble on with Sunderland, Spurs and Everton all pitched as likely new destinations for the winger.

According to The Sun, Mancini will speak with the 25-year-old this week in a bid to finalise a deal.

“City have lined up Swansea’s Scott Sinclair as a possible replacement — but Mancini will not force Johnson out,” the paper claims.

“Sunderland have already made a £10million offer for the 25-year-old player while Tottenham are also interested.”

Remember you will find out here first if there are any movements in or out of the club as the transfer window draws to a close.
