Newspaper discussion about incomings and outgoings at City today adds a managerial rumour to the usual player speculation.
The Daily Mail reports rumours coming out of Russia that City boss Robert Mancini is being targeted to take over the Russian national team. City have quickly poured water on this rumour with the manager and players about to fly to Austria for pre-season training.
Managerial changes at Athletic Bilbao could pave the way for a move for midfielder Javi Martinez. Bilbao coach Marcelo Bielsa resigned on Friday and Goal.com suggests this could prompt City to attempt to trigger a €40 million buy-out clause in the player's contract, saying,
"Mancini feels Martinez, who has previously attracted interest from Manchester United, has the physical and technical strengths to thrive in the Premier League, either in central midfield or defence.
City are eager to bolster their squad as they look to retain their Premier League crown and win the Champions League in just their second campaign in Europe's elite competition."
The Metro thinks a move for Dutch maestro Wesley Sneijder more likely after the player's current boss, Inter Milan's Andrea Stramaccioni, refused to rule out a transfer.
The Daily Star leads with the 'news' that Manchester United winger Nani could be a shock target for the Blues. The paper reports that the Portuguese star is currently in contract negotiations with United and could attract the attention of Roberto Mancini.
The Robin Van Persie rumour rumbles on this morning with the Mail saying Juventus are keen to sign the player and the Daily Star suggesting the potential sale of Emmanuel Adebayor to Tottenham will decide City's ability to move for the Dutch striker.
Finally, on the day a British player competes for the Wimbledon men's singles trophy, the Kansas City Star adds Andy Murray's success to a list of ended sporting droughts that also includes City's spectacular 2011-12 Premier League win.
