There are reports this morning that Yaya Toure will discuss his international future with City boss Roberto Mancini after riots prematurely ended the Elephants’ game in Senegal.

Crowd trouble in the stands in Dakar meant the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier was abandoned and according to the Daily MailYaya and his brother Kolo now have a decision to make.

“With another ANC finals tournament due to take place in the New Year, Yaya Toure has not yet confirmed for definite that he will play,” writes the paper’s Ian Ladyman.

“City hope he will choose to stay in England and help his club defend their Barclays Premier League title and it is now expected that the club's most inspirational player will sit down with Mancini and talk the matter through in the coming weeks.

“Toure has previously said that he feels guilty for leaving City for a month last season but has also suggested he has unfinished business with his country. This season's tournament takes place in South Africa and runs from January 19 to February 10.”

Meanwhile, City coach David Platt has been airing his views that the Blues’ can and should be able to cope without key players like Yaya and David Silva.

“They’re not indispensable, we have to look at things,” Platt told the Manchester Evening News.

“We want to get to a point where nobody is indispensable. What we know with Yaya, he can give us so much balance, so much control of the game – a lot goes through him.

“With David, when you think you are coming up against a tight defence, he can open things up with his ability.

“We address every game as it comes, with one eye on what the players have done and what the players are going to have to do in the next game.

“A lot is made of people missing games but we don't just pick a team for one particular game.”
