One of City’s latest recruits has issued a warning to the Blues as they aim to defend their Premier League title.
According to the Daily Mail, Brazilian full-back Maicon says City can’t afford any more slip ups or they will slide out of contention at the top of the table.
“I know that Roberto is very focused on this. He wants to improve and we have to improve quickly because we can’t afford to have any more distance between us and the teams at the top of the league,” he stressed.
“The manager doesn’t like conceding goals and he’s very passionate about that and he’s already working on that.
“We will do even more work and our focus is on improving that and improving the team’s results as soon as possible.”
Elsewhere this morning, Football Italia claims City are tracking Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang and could make an offer in January.
“The 20-year-old talent impressed in last season’s promotion campaign from Serie B and has continued that form in the top flight,” the paper reports.
“There are reports in the Italian media that Obiang has caught the eye of Roberto Mancini.
“A January bid is on the cards and scout Attilio Lombardo is expected to be in the stands for the next Blucerchiati games.”
Finally this morning, Blues defender Joleon Lescott has hinted that he is keen to extend his stay at the club.
ESPN claim that despite being in and out of the squad, the 30-year-old is happy at the Etihad.
“Despite his falling down the pecking order, Lescott, who returned to the starting XI and scored in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal, is determined to win back manager Roberto Mancini's faith,” reports ESPN.
“Lescott has two years remaining on his current contract at the Etihad Stadium and he is open to agreeing longer terms.”
